A circular path leads around the quarry pond

There are plaques along the way reminding you of the town of Langendorf. At the beginning of the 1970s, the place had to give way to the Zukunft-West open-cast brown coal mine; the residents were relocated and Langendorf was then demolished. Where the place once lay is now the north bank of the Blausteinsee. Langendorf belonged to the Lohn parish in the Jülich district and, together with the surrounding towns of Erberich, Fronhoven and Laurenzberg, was incorporated into the city of Eschweiler on January 1, 1972 due to the Aachen Law.

You can hike or cycle around the lake. it also has a small dock for sailors.

Lake Barmen is idyllically located on the edge of a landscape protection area and has a small beach and a lawn for sunbathing. Here you can cool down and relax away from the hustle and bustle of an outdoor pool. To protect nature, swimming is only permitted in officially designated bathing areas. Entry is free, you enter and swim at your own risk, there is no lifeguard. In the immediate vicinity, between Floßdorf and Broich, the Rur meanders along its natural course. Walking paths around Lake Barmen invite you to discover the charming surroundings.

Very beautiful lake with an adjoining pond. On one side, the Rur is separated from the lake by a dam. The Rur flows directly past the lake.

The lake shore is natural and you can only get to the lake in a few places.
