The Oberlübber Bergsee, also known as the "Blue Lake," is picturesquely situated in the Wiehen Hills near Oberlübbe in the municipality of Hille. Formed from a former quarry, the quarry filled with groundwater and rainwater after mining ceased, creating a small but impressive body of water. With a length of approximately 167 meters, a width of up to 50 meters, and an area of around 0.8 hectares, it is considered the largest mountain lake in the Wiehen Hills and also one of the northernmost mountain lakes in Germany. The lake lies at an altitude of approximately 200 meters above sea level and is surrounded by steep rock faces and dense forest, giving it a tranquil and secluded atmosphere. The dramatic landscape, shaped by the industrial past of the quarry, contrasts strikingly with the natural regeneration by trees and vegetation. This contrast makes the Oberlübber Bergsee a fascinating subject for photography and a special place for quiet nature observation. However, the lake is not open to the public as the land is private. Steep cliffs and the great depth pose dangers, which is why activities such as swimming or picnicking on the shore are not recommended.

When the first warmer days of the year arrive, the Moorstrandhaus on Hücker Moor opens its doors. Here you can relax in the sun on lounge chairs and enjoy a drink while enjoying a small snack. My highlight from 2021 needs an update. Something has changed at the location, some things have gotten better, some things have gotten worse and many things remain the same. The selection of food was significantly better at the beginning. What remains are the typical snack dishes, manta platters, etc., just run of the mill... The biggest problem is still logistics. One place for cold drinks, one place for hot drinks, one place for food. I have nothing against self-service, but it can take a while until you have everything at your table and in the worst case, the food is cold before you have the drinks. Splitting up for procurement is also bad, as the table can get lost. This should be centralized.

Enjoying autumn in the Sielpark am See on a bench is a highlight.
