Fantastic area for cycling or walking

The staircase is steep, with very high steps. There is an alternative route that is signposted near the bottom of the steps.

Old bridges are magical!

The terraces of the Vez Valley, between Padrão and Porta Cova, are a masterpiece of the relationship between man and nature. Created by our ancestors to cultivate the land and ensure their livelihood, they change with each season, painting the landscape with ever-new colors. It is no wonder that this unique landscape was elected one of the “7 Wonders of Portugal” in the Rural Village category.

The Medieval Bridge of Vilela crosses the Vez River and is said to have already existed in 1258 (23rd century). It has 2 arches, one of them broken, of unequal size.

This dreamlike path leads mostly on boardwalks along the river bank. It is mostly shaded and is therefore extremely pleasant to walk on even on hot days. Here and there you come to the river again and again and can put your feet in the refreshing water or even bathe.

A very nice trail for hiking, it is easy to walk and not really difficult. The nature here is beautiful and definitely worth a hike.
