Former railway lines or embankments in the moor often serve as cycle and hiking trails. Therefore, there are still cycle tours that bear the name "Peat Railway in the Vehnemoor".

The Oltmann Mill in Westerscheps The mill was built in 1888 as a so-called "Wallholländer" (wall-shaped windmill). Its builder was Hermann Frerichs. In 1904, master miller Georg Oltmanns purchased this cap-shaped windmill, which can rotate its head and blades to face favorable winds. Initially, milling was carried out solely by wind power, namely barley, rye, and wheat. The Scheps mills benefited from the intensification of pig farming on the surrounding farms. From 1908 onwards, the grinding process of the Oltmann Mill was additionally powered by a portable superheated steam engine. This drive unit was powered by fuel peat from the mill's own moorland, thus ensuring a self-sufficient supply of energy via wind and peat. In 1913, the mill was equipped with an electrical system. In 1932, a diesel engine replaced the steam engine.

Description The lake was created in the early 1970s by removing soil for the construction of the A 28. It takes its name from the Wold forest area, which adjoins the lake. The lake is used as a bathing and fishing lake. In some places it has a natural shore with reed areas and bushes. On the west bank there is a sandy beach, in front of which a shallow water zone has been created as a non-swimmer area. The non-swimmer area is separated from the rest of the lake, which in some places drops steeply to a depth of 14 meters, by a chain of floating buoys. During the bathing season, when the weather is good, water supervision is provided by the DLRG local association in Bad Zwischenahn. A circular path runs around the lake. Part of the east bank is designated as a nudist area. The Oldenburg-Leer railway line runs between Woldsee and the A 28, Woldsee is located directly south of the railway line. North of the Woldsee between the railway line and the motorway there is a second quarry lake.

There are hardly any rest stops with food options on the Mill Tour. We took a long break there after about 30 km. Coffee, soft drinks, tea, sandwiches, cakes, and various treats. Indoor and outdoor seating available... some even under cover... Ample bicycle parking. Restroom facilities also available for guests with disabilities.
