Cycle as long as you have enough energy. With a total of 7 stations on the railway line from Lienz to Thal, you can plan your route on the Drau Cycle Path as you wish and cycle as far as you like. If the weather suddenly changes, the next station is usually not far away. The trains run every hour, so waiting times are kept to a minimum. The Drau Cycle Path is very popular with Italian guests and is therefore very busy in the summer months of July and August. So if you want to have the cycle path practically to yourself, you should start as early as possible before the main stream. The Drau Cycle Path runs through a variety of natural areas for a total of 750 km from Toblach in South Tyrol to Croatia and is known for its beauty and quality.

The Volkeinzer Hut is located at the end of the Villgraten Valley / Winkeltal valley, surrounded by beautiful nature, it is the starting point for numerous mountain peaks and mountain lakes and an insider tip for gourmets. The hut owner cooks himself. Mainly game dishes (supplied by local hunters) Lamb dishes (around 700 lambs graze all around) The crispy pork ribs have become an insider tip Vegetarians are not left out either

Very nice hut with delicious home-made cakes. The perfect starting point for long mountain hikes. Picturesquely located in the Hohe Tauern National Park.

Of course closed in winter, but if there is little risk of avalanches, it is a worthwhile destination with a dry place to take a break.
