Coming from the Pentlinghaus, you first come across a beautiful hut cross, which offers a fantastic view, but does not mark the summit ☝🏼😉 The actual summit cross follows a little later and is a little hidden between the trees!

The Rofanspitze, the third highest peak in the Rofan Mountains, is an easily accessible and popular summit destination. That is why the rocks are very greasy and therefore slippery in some places.

The Rofanspitze is the third highest peak in the Rofan Mountains. From up here you have a fantastic 365-degree view. The climb requires stamina and surefootedness. The climb to the summit has a gradient of around 40-45%. We saw some who had neither. We hoped that we wouldn't have to watch one of these people fall. You should also use your hands on the last stretch to hold on to the barren rock. The small plateau at the summit cross is made entirely of rock. You should be aware that you are in alpine terrain throughout the Rofan Mountains and be equipped accordingly (drinking lots, alpine shoes, hiking poles, etc. are highly recommended). From up here you can see not only the Zireiner Lake but also the Gruber Lake. This glows a beautiful turquoise color in the sunshine. On nice days it can get crowded here.

The Trainsjoch is a very worthwhile mountain destination. The approach from the Ursprungtal is varied and there is also a place to stop for refreshments at the Mariandlalm. The Fritz-Koeber-Steig on the state border leads steeply uphill, but the small scrambles are also fun. At the top, if visibility is good, a full mountain panorama awaits you.

The Gratlspitze is Alpbach's local mountain. The striking mountain rises directly above Alpbach's many wooden houses. It is actually not a single peak, but a yoke with several peaks. Seen from below, the mountain seems invincible - the rocks in the summit area are so steep. The hike is not that extreme, but can be viewed as moderately difficult. However, sure-footedness and a head for heights are necessary in the summit area. Three main routes lead from the Alpbachtal up to the summit. Depending on your preference, you can vary the route or turn it into a circular hike.

The Rofanspitze (2259m) is probably the most famous peak in the extremely interesting Rofan Mountains - even if it is only the third highest. Thanks to the Rofan cable car, the summit can be reached on a hike along well-marked paths. The panorama can't be beat when the weather is good and the many mountain lakes that you pass on the way up and down are great for cooling off on hot days.
