Located on a striking hillside in the Sulztal Valley between Beilngries and Berching, Plankstetten Monastery is one of the most impressive and historically valuable monastic complexes in the Altmühltal Nature Park and is considered a monument of national importance. The complex is not a museum, but rather the home and workplace of a vibrant Benedictine community of monks. The monastery tavern offers organic beer, brewed by the Riedenburg Brewery, and delicious food. The organic shop and its accompanying wine cellar offer everything a gourmet's heart desires.

In the direction shown in the photo, the cycle path next to Pollanten goes to Neumarkt. Very nice, but you have to turn sharply left over the bridge! Then you cross the old canal, but you cannot cross the RMD canal
