Parish Church of St. Nicholas, Damuels The parish church in Damüls is located at 1430 m between the Bregenzerwald and the Great Walser Valley. With its late medieval wall paintings, its figural furnishings and its solitary location on the church hill, it is one of the highlights of Vorarlberg's art history. The Gothic church with a baroque belfry is dedicated to Saint Nicholas. Built in 1392, it was rebuilt around 100 years later and given a Baroque makeover around the turn of the 17th and 18th centuries. The ceiling painting in the nave shows various scenes from the life of Mary, framed by several figures of saints. 15th-century frescoes depict the Passion of Christ on the north wall. The Last Judgment is depicted on the chancel arch. The high altar is dated 1733. The essays God the Father, two entablature angels and Archangel Michael come from the former early baroque high altar from around 1630. Valley station Damülser cable cars - Uga Express From the high-altitude village of Damüls, the “Uga Express” 4-seater chairlift takes hikers to the hiking area at 1,800 meters above sea level in five minutes.
