An impressive building. Unfortunately, the cathedral is no longer open and accessible at all times. What a shame.

The watchtower in Weikersheim is a worthwhile destination for hikers, especially because of the magnificent views over the Tauber Valley, Weikersheim Castle, and the town. It is part of the historic Landwehr fortifications built in the Middle Ages to fortify the town.

Spanning over 134,000 square meters, the Bad Mergentheim spa park, with its vibrant floral splendor, mighty trees, and manicured green spaces, offers an oasis of relaxation. Admission is free and open at any time!

Very beautiful park, invites you to linger

The former town hall of Wölchingen was built in 1867 and is a striking example of 19th-century municipal architecture. Particularly striking is the small bell tower on the roof – a typical feature of rural town halls, which was once used for timekeeping and for special occasions. The ground floor also housed a fire station where the local fire department stored its equipment – a testament to the multiple uses of public buildings during this period.

The Cathedral of Franconia in Baden, also known as the Franconian Cathedral, is an impressive Romanesque church. It was built between 1220 and 1270 and is one of the most important buildings in the region. The church is a three-aisled pillar basilica with a cruciform floor plan. Particularly noteworthy are the 13th-century niche tombs, the 15th-century late Gothic epitaphs, and the ornate stained-glass windows by Valentin Feuerstein, which were added in the 1960s. The church originally had no tower, but in 1878/79 an octagonal tower was built on the crossing. The church initially served only the parish of Wölchingen, later also the parish of Boxberg.

The church has a four-part chime, including three bells from 1953 by the Schilling bell foundry and a historic bell from the 18th century by the Roth bell foundry.
