An exceptional site with a clear view over a good part of Mauritius and Port Louis below.

To rate this hike as moderately difficult is beside the point. From start to finish you have to climb up and down. Physical fitness is an absolute must. It is a difficult task, but the reward at the top is sensational on the plateau.

The ascent to Piton Canot is quite steep but there are a lot of ropes here to help you! You get a wonderful view of Chamarel.

Le Morne Brabant is a 556 meter high mountain on the peninsula of the same name in the southwest of Mauritius. In 2008, the mountain was added to the UNESCO World Heritage List as a cultural landscape. The rich oral traditions about the mountain's role in the suffering and liberation of slaves were also recognized. Our guide Kavi (+230 5787 1002 / bappookav@gmail.com) was fantastic - he knows the mountain inside and out and used his knowledge and experience to lead us safely to the summit cross. You immediately notice that he knows every stone and every path there. The hike itself is demanding, especially in the upper part where it gets steeper. The view from the summit is breathtaking and the feeling of having made it to the top is simply indescribable. Kavi supported and motivated us throughout the entire tour. This hike is highly recommended for anyone looking for a challenge and at the same time wanting to enjoy the spectacular nature of Mauritius! Our tip: wear sturdy shoes

Final spurt, last climbing passage just before the summit - it is best to start the hike early in the morning, as it gets very hot and crowded already in the morning.

38% gradient, but the view makes up for it. Unfortunately, if you want to go up or down on one side you have to go through a private nature park with an entrance fee of 350MR. But the nature park is beautiful and worth the money.
