We - over-60s with good mountain skills - descended from the Cabanna Cadlimo through the Val Cadlimo to the Lukmanier Pass. The common description that the route is mostly on easy-to-walk paths is a dangerous understatement. It goes over long stretches over boulder fields, which require very good surefootedness and balance. Then down over some smooth rock ledges, which are secured with chains. So it's not all that easy!

Beautifully situated mountain hut above Lago Sfundau

Visited by mountain hikers from all directions. The hut is located on the Four Sources Path, on the main continental watershed between the Rhine and Ticino/Po, in a landscape characterized by mountain lakes. Ibex like to show up on the ridges around Cadlimo. Easy ridge and summit ascents, circular tours, transitions, a small climbing garden and swimming in one of the lakes around the Cadlimohütte complete the mountain experience.

The Cristallina Hut belongs to the Swiss Alpine Club – Section Ticino – Lugano. It is newly built, in the immediate vicinity of Passo Cristallina, at 2575 m, and is located on a saddle that naturally separates Valle Maggia (Valle Bavona) and Valle Bedretto. From the south-facing panorama terrace you can enjoy a breathtaking view of the Basodino Glacier and the nearby mountain peaks. The new hut replaces the old structure of 1939. Standing at 2349 m, it was completely destroyed in 1999 by avalanches that thundered down from Pizzo Gararesc to the Bassa di Folcra. For safety reasons, the pass was chosen as the location for the new building. It was built during 8 months, summer 2001 and 2002 and in December 2002 the hut was accessible again. The official inauguration took place in July 2003.

The Capanna Piansecco is a simple hut that is perfect as a destination or stopover for hikes or ski tours. Built in 1995, it is located at the southern foot of the Pizzo Rotondo in the upper Bedretto valley. The Piansecco hut is open in summer from mid-June to mid-October and in winter from mid-December to mid-April. You can stay in double or four-bed rooms. The Pazolastock is wonderful to auction, the summit ridge may be difficult, but not too much T3. You should still have surefootedness and a head for heights.
