Recommended in combination with the small Sonnstein, but not on its own, as the view is only possible from the very front at the edge and the view from the small Sonnstein is much nicer and there is more to see from there.

Great view of the Traunstein and the surrounding area. If you walk quickly, you can reach the summit in 1 hour. The path from the summit to the right further down is partly overgrown but recognizable (waterproof shoes are an advantage if you are out and about in the morning...wet, tall grass)

To avoid the boring path along the main road (Traunkirchen-Ebensee), we recommend the old mountain path. This leads from the kl. Sonnstein (h 520m) to the center of Traunkirchen.

Short but very varied hike in Upper Austria from Siegesbach to the Kleinen Sonnstein (923 m) near Traunkirchen. The tour opens up great views of Lake Traunsee and the surrounding peaks of the Salzkammergut mountains.

One of the most popular viewing points on Lake Traunsee. Walking time: approx. 1.25 hours. A nice circular route is the following route: From the Scharnsteiner Straße junction via Dürnberg to the car park (if not open, park at the bottom of the main road), then after the Schrattenau at a small abandoned gravel pit take the Jagasteig to the summit. This is well marked with Stoamandln. And then back the normal marked path. Both paths are about equally demanding. You can send me a planned route via email.
