The lake isn't (!) ideal for swimming, even after a strenuous climb – pack plenty of drinking water! The lake has little to no natural inflow and is therefore very dirty. However, in calm conditions, it offers beautiful photo opportunities, for example, of the reflection of the Kalkkögel in the afternoon/evening sun.

You should definitely look at the weather at the Kreuzjoch. If you notice that it is very cloudy, it would be a shame to take a trip there. A visit is also worthwhile.

Great place to pause and enjoy the moment. I always recommend this place as a hiking destination. Can be extended, for example, a little downhill over the Figl or in another direction to the Grießkogel and other peaks towards Kemater Alm.
