The old trees are a paradise for woodpeckers and other cavity-nesting birds. Woodpecker holes are home to many new tenants, including stock doves, jays, squirrels, and many more. There are many old trees here in the primeval forest, Baumweg (Tree Path), and the name says it all.

The Baumweg primeval forest is located in the immediate vicinity of the Ahlhorn fish ponds. It is one of three primeval forests in northern Lower Saxony. In addition to the Baumweg primeval forest, there is also the Hasbruch primeval forest between Ganderkesee and Hude, and the Neuenburg primeval forest near Zetel.

Cute little bridge, but be careful! It can be quite slippery when wet, so it's better to cross it a little slower :)
