I fell in love with the “Schänzle”, as people here call the Gasthaus zur Schwedenschanze, at first sight. It's a mountain inn like you rarely find. The restaurant is cosy and the view outside is fantastic.

A nice place to rest A stop is worthwhile! Very nice service! The climb up the tower is worth it! The ascent for adults costs 1€ and children 50 cents!

An extraordinary Vesperstube together with a lookout tower, which with its 25 m height offers a clear view over the Black Forest, as far as the Swabian Alb and, when the view is particularly clear, as far as the Alps.

Definitely worth a detour. Very nice staff, a great and inexpensive menu and when everything is closed, there is still a fridge with drinks and a trustworthy checkout for every hiker. Up here you can have a wonderful rest, eat delicious food and enjoy a great view at the same time. Definitely visit.

So don't go there Monday and Tuesday. The tower and restaurant are not open then. At the moment a bit limited due to Corona, but it's okay again.

The view from up here is simply breathtaking. You can see in almost all directions over the mountains to the horizon.

Nice and well-equipped rest area. There are drinks, covered seating, a fireplace and a small watercourse.

Gasthaus Schwedenschanze at 1130 m altitude, snack bar and delicious cakes and, of course, witty drinks! Great view on the terrace! Opening times Summer time from May 1 to December 23, Saturday, Sunday and public holidays from 10 a.m., winter time from December 26 to March 17, daily from 12 p.m., closed on Monday and Tuesday.

We came by here for... Way to the Kandel. Found the view here more impressive than there. The little detour was definitely worth it

No matter which side you climb the Rohrhardsberg from: close to the summit you will be rewarded at the Schwedenschanze with a wonderful view and good food in a rustic atmosphere.

Quaint alpine hut on the Kandel with a wonderful view. Vespers and homemade cakes. Products as regionally as possible from the mountain or its valley (Glottertal). Hand in hand with farmers. Ideal destination for hikers, mountain bikers, paragliders, day trippers and motorcyclists.
