Just “an old milestone of the long-vanished Oberallertalbahn”. It was restored to remind us of the sad history associated with this place.

Nice refuge for a break

The Mühlengrund brewery inn is located in the immediate vicinity of the federal highway 214 in the monastery community of Wienhausen. The town belongs to the Lower Saxony joint municipality of Flotwedel in the district of Celle. This half-timbered house, which is a listed building, has an ancient tradition. The first documented mention dates back to 1589. Here it is listed as "Manorial Inn No. 4". Located in the immediate vicinity of the excursion destination of the Wienhausen monastery, the beer garden under old trees at the weir of the mill pond offers shaded relaxation. The smallest brewery in the world has been in the Guinness Book of Records since November 1997. Fun and educational brewing seminars are held by prior arrangement. The menu is characterized by hearty, refined dishes from the region such as "schnitzel from Wienhausen highland beef in a nut crust" or "curry from Heidschnucke with roast potatoes". As a digestif, a homemade malt liqueur or a Wienhäuser Naturtyp fresh from the tap goes well with this.
