With its new (built in 2012), 12-meter-high observation tower, the Hohe Kreuz – the highest point of the "hollow mountain" (522 + 12 m) – is now on par with the Adlerstein in height. The Ehrenbürg is one of the most popular destinations in Franconian Switzerland. With its double dome, it is framed by the communities of Kirchehrenbach, Leutenbach and Wiesenthau. The Walberla is the northern peak of the mountain and is at around 513 m.

For me, the Walberla is the landmark of Forchheim and the region, easy to reach, a haven of peace to switch off, many unusual grasses and plants thrive in the nature reserve, so it's important to stick to the paths.

The Ehrenbürg impresses with its double summit Walberla and Rodenstein. The Franconian is beautiful, and there is also excellent gastronomy. Class.

The ascent or descent from Walberla is rewarded with a fantastic view. The cross with the two benches to linger is not a summit cross, but rather a stopover with an excellent view of Kirchehrenbach when the weather is clear.

Excellent view in clear weather ☀️! The 3rd summit cross was ruined by storms and had to be rebuilt and set up.

Beautiful up here on the cross! If you're lucky, you'll have the space to yourself, the view is wonderful!

After the first steep section there is a summit cross with two benches on the foothills. The view over the vast country is fantastic and Kirchehrenbach is at your feet.

From the tower you have a nice view of the area. From the direction of Hermannsruh there is a decent ramp up to the tower where you can test your leg strength. There is also a really good, albeit challenging, trail to the Oswald Cave.

There are benches at the cross to take a breather and enjoy the view. Seats can become scarce when the weather is nice!
