    The Walberla is a wonderful hiking destination in Franconian Switzerland. after the mountain has been completely deforested, you can soak up a lot of sun here. There is also a beautiful summit cross on the Rodenstein and there is also a nice little cave to discover below the chapel. I can highly recommend this circular hike => via-ferrata.de/rund-ums-walberla-wandern

                  The "Walberla" is probably the most famous mountain in Franconian Switzerland. Officially, the witness mountain is called Ehrenbürg and is divided into the 532m high Rodenstein and the 512m high Walberla. Already around 1000 BC. the Walberla was settled by the Celts. The remains of the fortifications can still be seen today. The Walburgis chapel was first mentioned in a document in 1360.

                                              When the Franconians talk about their mountain, they popularly talk about the "Walberla", the striking table mountain east of Forchheim. The real name of the massif is "Ehrenbürg".

                                              The "Ehrenbürg" consists of the 532 m high Rodenstein and the 512 m high Walberla, which is crowned by a chapel built in the 17th century (first mentioned around 1360).
