The panoramic platform over Dorf Tirol On the Hochmuth below the Steinegg inn there is a viewing platform that offers a wide view over Merano, the Etschtal and the surrounding mountains. There are 2 telescopes on the platform that provide information about the visible mountains and the former cultivation of the steep fields of the Muthöfe. The platform represents a stylized carrying basket. The construction draws attention to the arduous, historical cultivation of the fields on the steep slopes of the Muthöfe, where baskets of earth and manure were pulled up the fields with the help of cable winches in order to make them arable again.

The ascent and descent are difficult but definitely worth it. Bringing provisions, especially drinks and refreshments, is recommended. Weather protection (rain/cold) and hiking boots with sturdy soles and good tread are essential. Even in summer, you'll cross snowfields. Anyone who has hiked there will have a lifetime of memories.

When we visited in June 2024, the path was heavily marked by the effects of winter. Some parts had slipped and were badly torn up by fallen rocks. It was still possible to walk it, but it was a little more difficult than usual - it's steep either way!

Wonderful view!!! Once at the top you can hike towards the Taufenscharte or back to the Mutkopfalm. From the Taufenscharte you can walk (if you have enough time) to the Spronser lakes.

Very nice alpine pasture with a great playground for children

The Mutspitz is a wonderful panoramic mountain with a 360 degree view. It's easy from the Mutkopf and then continues beautifully over the ridge if you don't have a head for heights. A MUST DO for Merano hikers
