Over the centuries, Ort Castle and the Ort estate changed hands several times, resulting in an interesting cultural heritage. Fuschl Castle is picturesquely situated on the western shore of Lake Fuschl in the Salzkammergut region and was built around 1450 as a hunting lodge for the Prince-Archbishops of Salzburg. The historic building has subsequently served various purposes, including as a backdrop for film productions, including the Sissi films. Today, the castle houses a luxurious hotel with its own spa and golf course.

The former lower square or lower market, called Rathausplatz, once served as a trading center for salt, grain, lime, and goods of all kinds, and was therefore a center of lively trade and traffic every day.
