The Wilhelm von Opel Hut is a simple shelter in Wiesbaden's city forest, near the Leichtweißquelle spring and not far from the New Jewish Cemetery. It serves as a popular resting place for hikers, offering shelter in bad weather and a chance to take a break amidst nature. The hut was built in 1938 and donated by Wilhelm von Opel – a member of the well-known Opel family, which became famous through automobile manufacturing. Wilhelm von Opel settled in Wiesbaden in 1928 and was a significant supporter of the city. In addition to the hut, his most well-known foundations include the Opelbad swimming pool on the Neroberg and other beautification projects in public spaces. The Wilhelm von Opel Hut thus symbolizes Opel's commitment to promoting leisure, nature, and public infrastructure in Wiesbaden. In the surrounding area, there are attractive excursion destinations such as the Leichtweißhöhle cave and the Nerobergbahn, which offers impressive views over the city.

This restaurant is located in the beautiful Goldsteintal valley and offers not only a cozy atmosphere but also upscale, solid German cuisine at reasonable prices.

A beautiful hut, but not a pleasant history surrounding its namesake, a Nazi. It's a scandal that the hut wasn't renamed or at least a notice posted. https://www.fr.de/rhein-main/wiesbaden/nazi-ob-namenspate-11471399.html

Very steep trail; especially in summer a good place for refreshment (also for hikers)

History: The Naurod Nature Friends Association was founded in 1927. Members were local craftsmen from the then independent municipality of Naurod. One of them was the bricklayer Wilhelm Bausch. The members worked on the design of their place in their free time. In 1934, a small shelter was built on the Erbsenacker site. After the war, this hut was destroyed by American soldiers. In the 1970s, craftsmen and farmers from Naurod came together again to build a new hut. Since the Erbsenacker was designated as a building area around this time, the municipality decided to move the hut site from the Erbsenacker to the Kellerskopf. After work, a new hut was built in community work closely based on the previous building. A plaque with the year of construction 1934 was even put up. Since Wilhelm Bausch was significantly involved and put a lot of effort into it, the people of Naurod decided to name this hut after their always helpful fellow citizen Wilhelm Bausch. The bricklayer Wilhelm Bausch was a co-founder of the Naurod Nature Friends in 1927. He died in the 1980s.
