A very beautiful castle. Nice staff and great gastronomy. Price/performance is okay, but higher priced due to the location. The nearby forest area is great for walking. Cycle paths go in all directions and are well marked.

A beautiful castle, well worth a visit. Especially the spectacular spiral staircase up to the roof.

Those brave enough after visiting the house can climb the castle's 38-meter-high central tower. To do so, they must negotiate a staircase winding up the hollow interior of the tower, which leads to lofty heights via 154 cast-iron, openwork steps. This freely suspended staircase is the hallmark of the castle and an architectural feature rarely seen elsewhere. Once they reach the platform at the top, all the effort is forgotten, for the most beautiful view one can enjoy on Rügen awaits.

The path to the castle is quite steep, but it's definitely worth it. In the museum, you can learn all about the Putbus family.

In winter, when the trees are leafless, you can catch a great view of the hunting lodge.

Anyone who wanders the island of Rügen with a keen eye will notice them again and again: extensively renovated manor houses and stately palaces. Sadly, however, two of the most magnificent buildings have been lost – the princely Putbus Palace and the "white palace by the sea," Dwasieden Palace. The Sassnitz district of Dwasieden is somewhat hidden in the southwest of the traditional port town, which usually attracts tourists primarily for its maritime flair and as the gateway to Jasmund National Park with its famous chalk cliffs. Here, on a hill above the Baltic Sea, there once stood one of the most beautiful parks in all of Northern Germany and, with Dwasieden Palace, the most valuable building on the island of Rügen. Today, nothing remains of all this splendor except for a huge complex of ruins in the middle of the forest. In addition to the demolition of the castle in 1948, this is also due to the decades-long military use of the area, beginning in 1934 with the Nazi Navy, its use as a refugee and quarantine camp immediately after the war, and culminating in the use of the East German People's Navy. What the future holds for Dwasieden is still largely up in the air. Plans to establish a large spa resort here have so far come to nothing. https://www.ostseeappartements-ruegen.de/blog/insider-tipps/lost-places-auf-ruegen-das-schloss-dwasieden.php

The Spy(c)ker estate and castle are located in the municipality of Glowe in the Vorpommern-Rügen district in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania. Spycker Castle is considered the oldest secular building on the Baltic Sea island. Spycker was first mentioned in 1318. At that time it belonged to the Stralsund patrician von Külpen family. In 1344 a daughter from the von Külpen family married into the Jasmund family. This is how the Spyker branch was founded by Jasmund, which died out in 1648. The castle is a rectangular, three-story plastered brick building from the 16th century. What is striking are the four round corner towers, which still make the building look like a castle today.[ Source: https://de.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Schloss_Spycker

a mystical place and a real "Lost Place" You really have to stroll through the forest to discover the ruins. The beech forest around Dwasieden is a dream - industrial or military ruins and castle ruins mixed with a beautiful dense beech forest in sunshine with birdsong. Here you can experience live that nature reclaims everything.

Worth a visit. I thought the weather was appropriate for this place. There is something mystical about him, which was enhanced by the fog.

The Granitz hunting lodge was built between 1837 and 1846 on the 107-metre-high forested Tempelberg near Binz. From the 38 meter high central tower, which was only added in 1844, you have a fantastic panoramic view of Rügen and you can see Binz Bay. The castle was once a residence for princely guests during the hunting season. Today it is a very popular destination for young and old. With over 250,000 visitors a year, it is the most visited castle in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania.

The Spycker Manor Castle is the oldest secular building on the island of Rügen. Thanks to the four round corner towers, the building may look like a castle, but the inside of the castle surprises. Because the Gutsschloss, which has been in operation as a hotel and restaurant since 2006, has a very modern interior design. A visit to the “wedding tree” here on the farm is also worthwhile. It is said that when a groom carries his bride through the tree, the marriage lasts forever.

Dwasieden Castle was blown up in 1948 on the orders of the Soviet military administration. The area was then partly used for military purposes, which resulted in additional buildings that are now vacant and slowly decaying. The entire area is currently freely accessible. However, caution should be exercised when entering buildings and building remains.

The system has now fallen into disrepair and somehow also eerie. At the time of construction it was the most expensive property that was built on the island. Unfortunately, it would be destroyed in wartime.
