The Fleetschlösschen was one of the first buildings in the Speicherstadt. It served as an office building for customs, then it was used as a fire station for the fire brigade, it was also used as a toilet block and today it is a restaurant. Another building with its own history.

Very close to the lock, Henneberg Castle stands on a specially created 15-meter-high hill. It looks like a fairy tale with its battlements and two towers, in the middle of an enchanted garden with trees. It was built in 1887 by the landowners Albert and Bruno Henneberg - on a scale of 1:4 of a castle that the Count of Henneberg had built in Meiningen, Thuringia. The Hamburg branch of the Hennebergs wanted to commemorate their ancestors and create a monument for themselves. The mini-castle with its 43 square meter interior area is still a monument today: It has been a listed building since 1991. A Hamburg couple fell in love with the gem, bought it in 2013 and founded a non-profit foundation. Very nice castle, very few people in Hamburg know about this gem. One of the most beautiful Christmas markets in northern Germany also takes place on the Schloßwiese.

The Fleetschlösschen is a historic building and is part of the Speicherstadt ensemble in Hamburg. It is located at the intersection of Brooktorkai/St.-Annen-Brücke, is a listed building and has been a World Heritage Site in the Speicherstadt since July 2015...see further text below. As described, this nice ensemble is located directly at an intersection of a very busy street. The traffic noise is a bit annoying.
