Marselisborg Castle has been the summer residence of the Danish royal family since 1902. The building was completed on June 7, 1902 and was presented as a wedding gift from the Danish people to Crown Prince Christian and his bride Alexandrine of Mecklenburg-Schwerin. The castle is still used as a summer residence by the royal family today. The castle is not open to the public, but the castle park can be entered by the public when the royal family is not present. With luck, Google Maps will somehow keep track of when the bridge is there and when it isn't. When we visited in early January, we weren't particularly hopeful of finding the bridge and that's exactly what happened... 🤷♂️

Dokk1 or Dokken is a government building, public library and culture center in Aarhus, Denmark. It is situated on Hack Kampmanns Plads in the city center by the waterfront next to the Custom House. Dokk1 is part of the much larger development project Urban Mediaspace Aarhus. It is designed by Schmidt Hammer Lassen Architects and Kristine Jensen. Construction broke ground 8 June 2011 and the building was inaugurated four years later on 20 June 2015.

The idea behind the bridge was to restore contact between the city, the bay and the coast as it was before World War II, when steamboats sailed between the Riis Forest to the north and Marselisborg Forest to the south. Then in the Varna Palace there was a footbridge where the citizens of the city could get off and go on a trip to the forest.
