De Woestijnkapel 또는 Kapel van het Heilig Kruis는 Gooik의 작은 마을인 Strijland의 Woestijnstraat에 있습니다. 이곳은 13세기에 한 양치기의 개들이 땅을 파헤치다가 노란색 구리 십자고상을 발견했을 때 예배당이 세워진 곳입니다. 1280년경에 만들어졌을 것으로 추정되는 십자가는 곧 Woestijn으로 순례를 오는 순례자들의 숭배 대상이 되었습니다. 그러나 현재의 예배당은 1600년에 지어졌고, 1713년에 둥근 천장이 없는 현관이 추가되었습니다. 내부에는 2개의 코린트식 기둥이 있는 1635년 바로크 양식의 현관 제단이 있습니다. 이 예배당은 1942년부터 기념물로 보호되고 있습니다. 출처: https://www.flickr.com/photos/erfgoed/4952793498

A sunken road is a road that is so deeply worn that it lies between two slopes. It is the result of centuries of use and erosion. The most beautiful sunken roads can be found especially in hilly areas with a subsoil that easily forms steep walls, such as in Haspengouw and Hageland.

The Holy Cross Chapel, better known as the Desert Chapel, is located in the Woestijnstraat in Gooik in Flemish Brabant. The chapel was founded in the 13th century, when a shepherd's dogs found a brass crucifix while digging up the ground. This cross, which must have been made around 1280, quickly became the subject of veneration. The current construction of the chapel dates from the 15th and 16th centuries, but was modified in 1758 and recently restored. The chapel consists of a single nave of three bays, preceded by a lower entrance portal with a gable. The Desert Chapel, together with the immediate surroundings, has been listed for more than fifty years. It has been designated as a protected monument since 1942 and as an established architectural heritage in 2021.

The krasjel pole was placed in March 2022 on the top of the Nellekensberg in the Neigembos. Its creator is Jeroen Van Assche, the designers Joris Bellemans and son Pieter.
