Petina is perhaps one of the most mountainous villages in Campania. It sits directly on the slopes of the Alburni Mountains, completely surrounded by centuries-old chestnut groves. The village is very small and offers a grocery store, almost always open and well-stocked, a restaurant renowned for its local dishes, and a bar with tables in a beautiful courtyard.

The Castelcivita Caves are a true natural wonder. The system is still active and continues to form stalactites and stalagmites. To visit, I recommend checking the website, as they only open at certain times of the day. It's definitely worth it!

The Preta Perciata Pass is an ancient mountain pass that connected the Calore Valley with the Alento Valley. In the past, visitors passed through a fascinating tunnel carved into the rock, giving rise to the name "preta perciata," meaning "perforated stone." Today, the pass offers a breathtaking panoramic view of the Cilento mountains and the ridges surrounding Magliano Nuovo, which it dominates from above.

Absolutely wonderful experience

Absolutely worth a visit, a town that has remained authentic and is unfortunately depopulating, but which has so much to offer.
