Presumably built in the 18th century, the town hall long served as the seat of the municipal administration and a place for public meetings, decisions, and announcements. It was the center of local self-government—a place where the village gathered to discuss important matters.

The castle dates back to the Middle Ages and was expanded into its current form in the 15th century. It is picturesquely situated on the banks of the Jagst River and impresses with its solid stonework and historic flair. Today, it is privately owned but houses, among other things, a hotel and serves as a venue for the Jagsthausen Castle Festival, where Goethe's "Götz von Berlichingen" is performed annually on the open-air stage.

The Red Castle in Jagsthausen dates back to the 16th century and was built of red sandstone in the Renaissance style. It is located opposite Götzenburg Castle and is now partly privately used.

The Roman Bath in Jagsthausen is a fascinating open-air museum that immerses visitors in the history of Roman life along the Upper Germanic-Raetian Limes. It displays the floor plan of a Roman military bath from around 200 AD.

The Götz von Berlichingen Fountain is a monument in honor of the famous knight Götz von Berlichingen, who became famous through Goethe's drama and his "iron hand."

A great starting point or snack stop for hikes or bike rides in the Kessach Valley and along the Jagst River. Delicious baked goods and cakes that truly deserve their name! Located on Widdern's cozy market square, it's a great place to linger.

Cafe Reinert, we always enjoy it, and we love sitting outside. The outdoor seating by the fountain is wonderfully comfortable. The baked goods are excellent: cakes and pastries, ice cream, and drinks. We love visiting Cafe Reinert in the center of Widdern. There's always something going on here, not hectic, but lively. And, as a bonus, you can pick up any bread rolls or rolls you need for home or an excursion. Widdern's numerous hiking trails are nearby and well signposted. It's a perfect fit.
