always beautiful views at the Schwanner wait

This route takes you from the Thomashof to the Batzenhof. Behind it is the golf course with a good restaurant. Hohenwetters-Grünwetters and Palmbach are also nearby. Stupferich, the mountain villages of the Brigandestadt, are also nearby. It's worth taking a closer look.

Wonderful view in clear weather

Seating on the steep bank of the Grötzinger Baggersee with a beautiful view of the lake. Since this is a nature reserve with protected areas that are not to be entered, you should only approach the lake shore at the marked places.

Observation platforms already have a certain tradition at this location. The first tower was built here in 1885 and had to be closed to visitors again just 30 years later. The structure threatened to collapse. In 1926, a second attempt was made: A massive substructure was supposed to fix it. But this structure was not prepared for the destructive power of the Second World War. The third attempt was made in the golden 1950s. The Schwanner Warte in its current form was built 13 meters high and with a stable pyramid roof, and has since then defied the Black Forest weather and all other adversities. The observation platform offers fantastic views of the Vosges and as far as Speyer Cathedral - provided the weather is good and the air is clear.
