A good parking spot to pitch up for your hike. The beer garden has a great view of Mellbreak.

A great mountain pub with good views, a nice beer garden, excellent beer and well-cooked food. They also have rooms if you fancy a bit of luxury and a hearty breakfast before the days running.

Don't get talking to it - you'll be there all day!

Beautiful little path taking you up to two easily accessible Wainwrights.

It might be small but Low Fell has wonderful vistas and you could easily bag this one and nearby Fellbarrow with a two hour quick walk.

Such pretty views of the lake as you go past, water on the road and some potholes but overall decent road surface

This is one of my favourite signs in the Lake District! The sign to nowhere... One fork says 'No Road to the Lake' and the other says 'No Through Road'. I'm sure plenty of cars simply turn back and their occupants just go to the pub (Kirkstile Inn) instead!

This has to be one of the best pubs in the Lake District National Park. Both the food and drink are of high quality. I thoroughly enjoyed the 'posh' fish finger sandwich on ciabatta and sticky toffee pudding!

The best pub in the world. Get a pint of Loweswater Gold whilst sitting in the beer garden with views of Melbreak. Can't beat it!

A favourite view - with a memorial bench; great place for a snack stop.

This is the view from the hump to the left of the path on the approach to Low Fell, just before the final push to the summit. I prefer the view from here than I do from the summit itself. I've wild camped here before and you're treated to a glorious view of Crummock Water. It's well worth the diversion off the main path.

A great approach for Low Fell or Fellbarrow from Thackthwaite alongside Meregill Beck. A nice steady incline on a grassy path. The herdwick sheep that are often grazing here like to pose for the camera!

A Wainwright fell with one of the best views in all of Lakeland, despite being fairly dinky! There is some confusion as to whether or not this point — the highest point of the fell at 1,387 feet (423 m) — or the south top — marked 1,352 feet (412 m) should be classed as the 'Wainwright summit' for peak baggers - Alfred himself was confused about it when he first compiled the list - so I like to visit both! 😀
