A barrier-free circular path with information panels about the geological development and the region's industrial history, which began in 1725 with the founding of the Lauchhammerwerk and was shaped by the coal industry in the 20th century, offers a wealth of interesting information. For example, you'll learn that the first 110KV power transmission line in Europe went online in 1912 between Lauchhammer and Gröditz, or rather, Riesa, in Europe; that the world's first conveyor bridge went into operation in Plessa in 1924; and what the glass industry has to do with lignite. You can play with an outdoor chess set and a dice game with themed pieces and motifs. The exhibition is freely accessible.

The area around Dobra was already settled in prehistoric times. A burial ground with burial mounds dating back to approximately 3,000 years ago indicates human settlements in the Bronze Age. The village was first documented in 1422. Dobra probably owes its name to the Sorbian "dobra voda," meaning "good water," and possibly derived from the original stream name. Dobra was once the court seat of the Liebenwerda district. The church square is the focal point of the village. A particularly striking feature is a beautifully carved wooden welcome plaque depicting the village's two former mills.

Dobra's Protestant village church is surrounded by the village's former cemetery, where the last burial took place in 1933. The village church is essentially a late Gothic fieldstone building. The date 1483 can be found in the roof truss of the nave. The upper part of the nave was slightly rebuilt in the 17th century. To the west stands a square wooden tower, which becomes octagonal further up, with a spire and weather vane. It dates from the mid-18th century and was restored in 1992.

Castles for bees? A bee castle is a concept developed by FIB Finsterwalde to create small-scale habitats that offer native wild bee species both nesting opportunities and food. For anyone interested, there is an information board about the islands of life for wild bees.
