Anyone traveling along the Havel Cycle Path will experience an incredibly beautiful stretch from here to Wesenberg. A narrow, paved path winds through the rolling landscape, passing through open spaces, forests, and lakes, always in solitude. A ride to dream about!

In recent years, there have been some severe root burrows in the asphalt, causing a few cyclists to fall. The path has finally been repaved.

The cycle path has been resurfaced and is now easy to use again.

Boek Manor House is located in what is now the Boek district of the municipality of Rechlin. The two-story manor house, with its 13 window axes and striking central projection, was built in the first half of the 19th century, presumably between 1800 and 1850, as the prestigious seat of a Mecklenburg estate. During the 19th and early 20th centuries, the property was owned by several noble and landowning families, most recently the le Fort family, who managed the estate until it was expropriated by the Nazi regime. In 1935, the manor house and the surrounding grounds were taken over by the German Air Force, as the important Rechlin Air Base – a central air force testing center during the Third Reich – was located in the immediate vicinity. After the end of World War II, the building was used for various purposes during the GDR era, including agricultural administration and as housing and storage facilities. After German reunification, a comprehensive renovation of the manor house began in the 1990s, preserving and restoring large parts of its historic structure. Today, Boek Manor serves as a National Park Information Center, informing visitors about the nature and history of the Müritz National Park. In addition to the National Park exhibition, the building houses a village museum, a tin figure museum, and a tin figure workshop showcasing traditional handicrafts. The Boek fishponds nearby also offer opportunities to observe ospreys and sea eagles. Currently (as of May 2025), the manor house is still closed for renovation work.

The surface is good for cycling, but unfortunately, there's no dedicated bike path. You'll be harassed by cars on the narrow road because there's no room to overtake properly. Therefore, the description "nice bike path" is misleading. 😔

Granzin is an idyllically situated village in the municipality of Kratzeburg and offers direct access to the Müritz National Park. The town is an attractive starting point or stopover point for cyclists, as the Havel Spring Lakes Cycle Path and the Müritz National Park Circuit pass through here. The routes lead through tranquil forests, past clear lakes, and offer impressive natural experiences. The Havelkrug Granzin, with its regional specialties and refreshments, invites you to linger for a while – ideal for a rest amidst pristine scenery.

The Granzin Mill is a historic watermill on the Havel River near Kratzeburg. First documented in 1325, it is considered one of the oldest milling sites in Mecklenburg. In 1472, the mill was donated to the Order of St. John in Mirow. From the 18th century onward, the mill was leased on a long-term lease. Picturesquely situated, it is now a popular destination for nature lovers and cyclists. A detour to the mill during a cycling tour through the Müritz National Park is particularly appealing. Since the Havel River is not navigable at this point, canoes must be carried a short distance – a small trolley railway is provided for this purpose. The surrounding area, with its quiet paths and beautiful landscape, invites you to linger and provides a unique insight into the history and nature of the region.
