Open all year round, with a wonderful beer garden in summer. When we came once and it was closed, you could still sit there and buy little things from the fridge on a trust basis (the cash register was there).

Exactly here at this point, more than 100 years ago (1896) a bridge keeper's house was built. The Ilmenau Canal, which has connected Ilmenau and the Elbe since that time, was an important shipping route for salt from Lüneburg and vegetables from neighboring Bardowick. And beer was already served here by the first bridge keeper Pahl. My great-grandfather Martin Vogeley then smoked the first eel behind the old "Willhelmsbrücke". The "food and drink menu" at that time consisted only of eel - bread - beer. A lot of time has passed. Today we offer you a wide range. We are also happy to try to accommodate your individual wishes.
