... In 1910, the church in Friemersheim, which had previously been part of the parish, was separated and became an independent parish. In 1919, Hohenbudberg came to the new Uerdingen deanery. This deanery was assigned to the restored diocese of Aachen in the bull "Pastoralis offici nostri" of August 13, 1930 (Kaldenhausen with Rumeln, Friemersheim with Bliersheim came to the diocese of Münster). From 1931 onwards, Hohenbudberg was a parish in the newly established Krefeld-Uerdingen-Ost deanery. In 1935 the church was painted by the painter Göcke from Geseke. She was badly damaged in a bomb attack on February 9, 1945. Heinz Bley from Rheinhausen was responsible for planning the reconstruction and the work was completed in 1949. The community has belonged to the Krefeld-Ost deanery since 1973. After the Second World War, the Bayer plants continued to expand, so that in 1978 the parish of St. Matthias, Uerdingen ceased to exist.
