As early as 1264-1289, Neuwühren appeared in the "Kiel City Register" under the name de Javorn, which derives from the Old Polabite (a Slavic root) word Javor for maple. Shortly thereafter, it was renamed Nî-Jaworn, indicating that, as was common at the time, a German "new" village was founded alongside the Wendish one for the purpose of colonization. By 1460, the village was already called Nyenwörden—it was now only a short distance to Neuwühren. Like most of the surrounding villages, Neuwühren belonged to the Preetz Monastery. After the construction of the church there, Neuwühren became part of the Elmschenhagen parish. In 1931, the village was incorporated into the newly founded municipality of Pohnsdorf.

Beautiful playground at Postsee with a view over the lake. If the wind blows from the lake, it can quickly become frosty for the kids.

The hiking trail here leads over the former narrow-gauge railway line.

Here at the end of the dead-end road there is a large observation station for birds at the Pohnsdorf dam.

The Kirchbarkau - Preetz - Lütjenburg (KPL) narrow-gauge railway, founded in 1908, connected rural towns in the region from 1910 onwards over a distance of 41.1 kilometres with 23 stops and was used primarily for freight transport, for example for agricultural products. Despite good infrastructure and regular transport, it was not economically viable, so passenger transport was initially discontinued and then all operations were discontinued in 1938. The line was dismantled, but relics such as the Schwentine Bridge remind us of this short but significant era in regional transport history.

A very spacious and well-maintained playground. The equipment looks well-maintained, there is plenty of space!! and as well as sunny areas there is also enough shade!! I can easily imagine visiting here with children!!
