A lovely little café with delicious cakes and coffee. Very cozy with friendly service and a great view of the lake. Definitely worth a visit.

This highlight is now a café, offering everything from breakfast to cake. They even have a proper portafilter machine for all coffee lovers.

The Lütjensee in the Stormarn district is around 33 hectares in size and is a popular destination for day trippers who want to leave the hustle and bustle of the city behind them for a while. From the riverside paths you can enjoy a wide view over the water, which glows in different colors depending on the time of day. The sunsets from this side of the lake are truly spectacular.

The Kranika moorland is located very close to the Lütjensee. It is 96 hectares in size and has been a nature reserve since 1993. Part of the area used to be covered by water, but later moors and wet meadows developed. Today, rare plants such as sundew and orchid grow here. Many animals, including frogs, grass snakes and various bird species, also call this area home. A number of beautiful hiking trails lead along the edges and information boards provide exciting insights.

Beautiful wetland not far from the protected Kranika moorland. Once a large peat mining area, the landscape is now becoming more and more peaceful. Rare amphibians and native snake species find their habitat here.

Sept. 2024: The path east of the Großensee is rather unattractive for cycling (depressions, forest floor, partly muddy). Unfortunately, there are hardly any benches to take a break on, and there are only a few places where you can see the Großensee.

The Großensee, a relic of the Ice Age and part of the "Storman Switzerland", is 17 meters deep. The oxygen-rich and low-lime water provides a habitat for numerous species of fish and crabs. Maybe you'll spot one of the crabs, because the lake is a lovely place to swim. There is a lovely beach at the southern end and you'll also find a few places to swim on the eastern shore.
