The Hald Egeskov (Oak Forest) is Denmark's largest forest stand of old Danish oak trees, and has always been part of Hald Hovedgaard (Manor). Many trees are over 300 years old. All oak trees remain standing until they fall down of their own accord due to old age or decay. Many beetle species, some of them rare, live in the fallen tree trunks. The oak trees of the Hald area are now used for breeding. In good years several tons of acorns are collected, which are then planted all over Jutland.

Hald Manor (Danish: Hald Hovedgård) is located 7 km south-west of Viborg, Denmark. Now owned by the Danish state, it is used as a venue for meetings and conferences. Hald Manor is a single storey building with a 3-storey central section, originally built as a gatehouse in 1798. The two pavilions in the park were probably built in 1795.
