The Ratzersdorfer See in St. Pölten was created in the 1970s as a local recreation area and offers numerous leisure activities. It is an artificially created bathing lake. The sports and leisure facilities include beach volleyball courts, a basketball and football pitch, and a mini golf course. There are restaurants to cater for your physical well-being, and you can take a short break here during your tour. The lake is easily accessible by bike via the Traisental cycle path. Admission is free.

This viewing platform is located between the big and small Viehofner lakes and offers a beautiful view from above over the lakes, over St. Pölten and up to the mountains. It is not far from the Traisental cycle path. You can easily push your bike the short stretch to the platform.

The observation tower Viehofner See is a twelve meter high tower that offers a wonderful panoramic view of the lake landscape around Viehofner and Ratzersdorfer Seen. It is located in St. Pölten, the city's recreation area. You can reach the tower on foot or by bike as it is located directly on the Dr.-Adolf-Schärf-Straße, the Traisental cycle path and several running, walking and cycling routes. Admission to the tower is free, but parking is chargeable from May to September.

You will also find information about the parking fees and opening hours of the parking lots at the lakes, which apply from May to September. Half an hour costs 0.50 euros and the maximum daily rate is 4 euros.

The Großer Viehofner See is a nature reserve and a popular destination for hikers, nature lovers and families. The lake is an important bird breeding area, where some now rare bird species breed. Therefore, only the east side of the lake is open for bathing. There are also various hiking and circular trails at the lake that lead past 11 themed stations. For example, you can learn more about the history of the Viehofner lakes, the use of hydroelectric power, the old sawmill or the reservoir.
