Why are there so few monuments to peace?

The Rakke Fortress, designated HKB 3/980, was built by the German occupation forces in 1941-1943. The main force here was four 12cm Cockerill guns. Fort Rakke also served as a school and training ground for German artillery.

Once you start pumping it's difficult to stop! This pump track is not very large, but decent size and good quality. Kudos to Nesjar IF for building a pump track here at all. Next up, build a few jump lines as well! 🤓

There really isn't much "mountain biking" to be done in Nevlunghavn as such, but I changed my "getting ice cream" ride from bike touring to mountain biking mostly because of this rock. It's not big, but it's surprisingly fun to bike up and down if you pass by and have mtb abstinences. Sleek rocky sides are fun to pedal up, and the rock is just about big enough that you can turn around and try a few different descents, some of which are pretty steep.

Minnehallen is a national memorial outside Stavern, south of Larvik. The memorial was commissioned by the Norwegian Parliament after World War I and completed in 1926 to commemorate the fallen Norwegian sailors of the war. Those who died in World War II were added later.
