Make a stop on your tour to have a look around at the petrified redwood forest. This is a hidden gem and often overlooked by visitors to the area but it never disappoints. There are a variety of looped trails to explore the rocks that were once tree stumps and other fossils.

The road passes right underneath Trachyte Knob. The forested hillside gives way to a rocky peak which is possible to climb by foot. Continuing along here to the south, the road opens up to some gorgeous views looking back along the valley to Trachyte Knob.

Surrounded by mountains, both near and far. The South State Highway 67 runs through the heart of gold mining country and the scars on the hillsides tell stories about both historic and current mining in the area.

Known at 'The City of Mines, gold was first discovered in Victor in 1891. It is worth visiting for a taste of life in the gold rush. Even cycling through you can see many 'gallows frames' on the hillside. Officially called headframes, they were used to hoist things out of the mine.

Set in the Pike National Forest and surrounded by mountains, trees and nature, Woodland Park is a great place to start/finish a ride or stop for some sustenance while you're out. Known as 'The city above the clouds', there are also plenty of accomodation options if you are looking to stay the night too.

Travelling south there is a wonderful view to Pikes Peak. As you crest the rise it comes into view in all its majesty. It's just asking to be climbed!

Manitou Park Lake is a little lake near Woodland Park in the Pike National Forest, Colorado. It is a popular fishing location and offers a short hiking trail leading around the lake. As the area features a nice picnic area, it's a great spot to enjoy the beautiful nature with family and friends.
