A nice little town with narrow streets and a harbor. There are several places to eat and drink there.

If you cycle from the Steenwijk-Beukers canal, you will have meadows on your right, while after the J.v.Nassauweg you will see new nature developing on your left. If you cycle straight on at the Kooiweg, you will see a large decoy on your left. In my youth they called it the largest duck decoy in Europe. Further on you will cycle along the Gieterse Meer. The only lake in Weerribben-Wieden that has developed naturally.

Where once a lighthouse was a sea beacon. It is now polder land, the sea water has disappeared.

The small harbor and the town are not to be missed.

This is a beautiful old town full of characteristic houses and canals. Vollenhove has been mentioned since 944.

That was a thriving port town on the Zuiderzee for centuries. Peat in particular created activity here. After the reclamation, Blokzijl was left somewhat orphaned, surrounded by land on all sides.
