Portocannone (Portkanuni in arbëreshë) is an Italian town of 2 335 inhabitants [2] in the province of Campobasso in Molise. It stands on a hill at 148 meters above sea level. near the right bank of the Biferno river, and is located about 65 kilometers east of the regional capital. It is one of the four municipalities in the province of Campobasso belonging to the Albanian ethnic and linguistic minority, together with Campomarino, Montecilfone and Ururi, which has maintained the arbëreshë language and culture that distinguishes them for centuries. The surname Manes, of Albanian origin, is the most widespread in the municipality and in Montecilfone.
