The Wijlermeer is an old course of the Rhine. On the Dutch side there is a beach that is popular with recreationists. The recreation area is the Wylerbergmeer. There are enough benches along the lake, you can walk and cycle

It was part of the Wylermeer until 1973. There used to be a swimming pool on the site of the lake. In 1973, a diversion canal was dug between Wylermeer and Het Meer, splitting off Wylerbergmeer. The "Bruggat aan de Spruitenkamp," which dates from about 1940, is a medieval dike passage that leads to the adjacent Spruitenkamp plot. This passage was originally intended to allow narrow-gauge trains to transport clay to the De Ooij brick factory, and the site nearby shows traces of clay extraction with water ponds and sunken meadows between former clay pits, surrounded by walls that used to serve as dikes for the narrow-gauge railways.
