Peace and beautiful scenery with wildlife. All sandy paths, but a lovely walk.

What a great statue, unfortunately located in a rather unspectacular setting.

The atmosphere is fantastic as you walk through the dune landscape. Free-roaming animals occasionally appear, making the tour even more interesting.

Group shelters, part of the "Position at Spaarndam" from the early 20th century. From https://nl.wikipedia.org/wiki/Positie_bij_Spaarndam : In 1917, the position was expanded with a representation in the forecourt consisting of trenches and dozens of concrete group shelters. A front wall was added with a front moat in front of it over the entire length. These defenses are located to the left and right of the Slaperdijk a few hundred meters west of the line wall. The First World War ended before the work was finished. Shortly after the war, a small part, on the front wall, was completed. Current situation Many features of the original position have been preserved. The military and inundation works are still visible in the terrain and many objects are provincial monuments. The later group shelters south of the Slaperdijk are still clearly visible in the terrain, but on the north side many have been absorbed into the Munition Forest. The latter is a large ammunition storage facility built in the fifties, but no longer in use as such. The buildings and trees largely obscure the view of the group shelters.

Amsterdam is the capital of the Netherlands. It is known for its artistic heritage, an extensive canal system and narrow houses with gabled facades that date back to the city's so-called Golden Age in the 17th century. The museum district is home to the Van Gogh Museum, the Rijksmuseum with works by Rembrandt and Vermeer, and the Stedelijk Museum of modern art. Cycling is part of the city's culture, so the cityscape is characterized by numerous cycle paths.

2월 1, 2025, Amsterdam Centraal Station
The Dutch government plans to move long-distance traffic from the station to Amsterdam-Zuid to avoid trains turning around at Amsterdam Centraal. This, and together with reconstruction measures, could increase the current frequency of 34 trains to 57 trains per hour; the number of passengers is expected to rise to 275,000 by 2030.[7] All platformless tracks are to be expanded and the number of platforms reduced from ten to nine. The space gained will be used to widen the remaining platforms, create more space for passengers and ensure faster processing. All of this is expected to cost around 350 million euros and will not be completed before 2030. However, the Nederlandse Spoorwegen (NS), the main user of the facility, is opposing the measure because it does not agree with the intended operating concept.[8]

Amsterdam Centraal was built on three artificial islands and stands on around 9000 wooden piles because of the sandy, damp subsoil. The station was opened on October 15, 1889, replacing the "Willemspoort" and "Station Westerdok" stations.[4] In 1889, 194 trains ran daily, in 1904 there were 404, and in the 1980s 1000 trains. From 1904 onwards, the square (Plein) in front of the Central Station (Stationsplein) became the most important hub for public transport, today: buses, trams and the Amsterdam Metro. Initially, the station had special waiting rooms for the royal family and foreign travelers, as well as offices for railway officials.
