During our hike in mid October, we couldn’t see the waterfall as it was almost dried up. Considering the height of the bridge it must look stunning after the raining season.

The trailhead for the popular hike up to Eagle Falls is right off of the main Emerald Bay Road in South Lake Tahoe. Before you even begin your hike you get great views of Emerald Bay. Although there is a large parking lot, it can fill up fast, so be sure to get here early or carpool.

The Pyramid Creek is a popular route to see the waterfall along the path. There are multiple spots along the trail with great views and areas for a break.

Upper Eagle Falls is a 50-foot waterfall in Lake Tahoe Basin Management Unit. The falls are only a short distance to a parking lot, so it is very accessible. This also means that during high season, the falls can be very busy.

The powerful water cascading over the granite slabs is beautiful, creating many photo opportunities, especially in the afternoon when the sun hits the falls. You may even catch a rainbow if you're lucky. It is a fantastic place to take the whole family in the summer after the snow melts for the season. There are several deep, refreshing pools of water, making it a perfect spot for cooling off on a hot day.

This pretty, 50-foot waterfall is just a 5-minute walk or so from the Eagle Lake Trailhead — but as you might imagine, that gets pretty busy. If that trailhead is full, you can often find parking at the Vikingsholm Trailhead a little farther up the road.

This waterfall is impressive both up close and afar. If you choose to keep hiking past the falls, be ready for some serious route-finding as the trail is poorly defined, if at all.

Follow the trailhead sign at the parking area's far end. The Cascade Trail offers stunning views of Cascade Lake and Lake Tahoe. It's a rewarding short hike that takes around 40 minutes to reach the falls. Enjoy the beautiful scenery and impressive rock outcroppings along the way.
