Follow the trailhead sign at the parking area's far end. The Cascade Trail offers stunning views of Cascade Lake and Lake Tahoe. It's a rewarding short hike that takes around 40 minutes to reach the falls. Enjoy the beautiful scenery and impressive rock outcroppings along the way.

Cascades Falls cascades down smooth glacier rock before dropping off the final fall. Many pools are created in the creek making it a great spot to cool off in the summer heat. The stream flows on solid rock flowing down multiple paths before reaching the falls.

How to get there:

From South Lake Tahoe: head north on highway 89 for 7.5 miles. Turn left into Bayview Campground opposite Inspiration Point which is the scenic overlook located one mile before you get to Emerald Bay. A wooden sign points right to the trailhead on the backside of the campground.

From Tahoe City: head south on highway 89 for 19.5 miles. Turn right into Bayview Campground opposite Inspiration Point which is the scenic overlook located one mile before you get to Emerald Bay. A wooden sign points right to the trailhead on the backside of the campground. Google Map

Route Description

From the Bayview Trailhead take the trail heading south from the signboard. The trail will continue to on a wide path before slabbing the hill side and becoming rocky. Just before Cascade Falls a sign post marks a trail intersection. Continue left to the falls or right to the upper section of the stream.
