The picnic area adjacent to Grizzly Falls provides an ideal spot for a leisurely meal amidst towering trees and the soothing sound of rushing water. It's a perfect place to unwind after a hike or simply to enjoy the tranquility of nature. These regal falls reveal themselves through the trees and forcefully pass through the rocky gap before cascading down to a gorgeous blue pool 20 feet below. It is a great spot to listen to the roar of the water and feel the mist as it joins the Kings River. The blue pool turns a gorgeous emerald green when the water is calmer in late summer.

The river can be mighty early in the season and calms down to a tranquil flow later in the year. Signs along the route indicate the danger of getting too close, so consider the current when you want to cool off on a hot day. It is a beautiful feature of hiking along the trail any time of the year.

You can hear the rushing water far from the trail. To get to this hidden waterfall, follow some faint tracks of hikers that were as curious as you. There are also great flat areas to spend the night.

Woods Creek is an impressive rushing river that shapes the granite rock to slopes and gorges. There are even some waterfalls! Take a break and enjoy the cool water. And if you look closely, you can find some wild onions growing at its banks – a great, fresh addition for your backpacker meal.

In August it is not as impressive as when the snow melts, but it is also a magnet for day tourists. From the "Road's End" car park it's a good six kilometers and 300 meters in altitude to get here.

Almost the entire valley of the Upper Middle Fork of the Kern River is a series of waterfalls and spectacular narrow gorges, cut into the granite. The trail is built closely along, affording great views without having to deviate. As it is less frequently traveled and berries grow sometimes very densely along the trail, keep an eye out for bears. It is not unusual to see many traces of their presence here.

The trail will get you really close to this impressive waterfall. Don’t get too close, the Palisade Creek is raging here.
