11월 8, 2024, Étang de Vendlincourt
Beautiful pond on the edge of the forest. Many paths lead through the woods, enough to make a nice little outing from Vendlincourt.

There are various definitions of the term étang. The German word Teich is probably the closest. At this pond is a nice fireplace. Exactly when the backpack starts to pinch :) At first glance it looks rather boring, but nature has a lot to offer here.

Porrentruy was once considered the spiritual center of the region. There are still various schools and high schools in the city today. The cantonal grammar school in Porrentruy also houses the second oldest botanical garden in Switzerland after Basel on the back and in the inner courtyard. A visit will be worth it in any case.

4월 23, 2023, Pont sur la Creugenat
The Pont sur la Creugenat is a small, inconspicuous bridge on the Rue Pierre-Péquinat, which spans the brook of the same name "le Creugenat", which is fed a few meters above the bridge by the brook Allaine. This flows partly openly as well as below the houses through the medieval town. There is something romantic about the scenery on the Pont le Creugenat. This is partly due to the green band of grass and flowers, which color accompanies the gurgling brook on its way through the rows of houses. You simply cannot cross the Pont sur la Creugenat without pausing on it and taking out your cell phone or camera. This architectural landmark is the icing on the cake, along with all of the city's other famous sights.

The Port de France is one of two surviving city gates on the Fabourg de France. Two stately round towers guard the entrance. If you leave the city here, you can take the somewhat steep footpath along the city wall to the "Tour de Coq" and thus to Porrentruy Castle right around the corner. The second city gate is much less spectacular. Both entrances to the city are at the respective ends of the street.

4월 23, 2023, Porrentruy Castle
Porrentruy Castle is certainly the highlight of any city tour. Large parts of the castle are open to the public. From up here you can enjoy a fantastic view over the medieval town and its surrounding area. The centerpiece of the castle is the mighty Réfus Tower. It can be climbed up to the top of the tower roof, with a spiral-like external staircase leading to the entrance, which is 9 m above the ground. If you want to go up here, you should have a head for heights. Numerous "bilingual" information boards pass on their knowledge about the history of the castle to visitors. Behind the castle, there are lush meadows that invite you to take a walk. Anyone who is unable to walk can easily park their car behind the palace complex. There were even pitches for campers with electricity, etc. thought and behind the castle wall there is a clean toilet block. If you want to leave the castle towards the city, you can either do so via a spiral staircase or use the elevator.

If you stop in Porrentruy, if you are a herb, plant and flower enthusiast, you should definitely pay a visit to the Parc du Jardin Botanique. After the botanical garden in Basel, it is the second oldest in Switzerland. It is striking that in addition to the almost inexhaustible variety of plants, one or the other sundial on several house fronts shows the time in a shadowy way. A particularly idiosyncratic and modern example can be seen at the end of the park when you enter the area through the main portal. Right next to the botanical garden, there is a public car park that is subject to a fee. From the botanical garden, you can continue your journey of discovery in the direction of the old town, or pay your respects to the castle above the city.

This building is the most important Gothic monument in the canton of Jura and a privileged witness of late medieval architecture. The overall restoration first rehabilitated the late medieval and seventeenth-century appearance while preserving most of the eighteenth-century furniture. The Peterskirche is under the protection of the canton and the Swiss Confederation.

The Porrentruy Castle is absolutely worth seeing - the access via the spiral staircase is particularly beautiful (wooden door in the cul-de-sac "Aux Capucins" - but may not always be open.)

Well preserved late medieval to early baroque castle, with some long-defunct walls still intact. Worth the detour to check out the old tower and the idyllic location.

The botanical garden in Porrentruy is one of the oldest of its kind in Switzerland. It was created in 1798 by order of Paris after the city was annexed by France. The beautiful garden with different plant species from all over the world is now part of the Nature Museum. You can find more information at: https://www.jurassica.ch/fr/Jardin-botanique.html
