Great walk with challenges

If you're hiking near Uffington Castle Hillfort, take a moment to explore the surrounding landscape. The views from the top are incredible, and you're right next to the famous Uffington White Horse. It's a great spot for a break and some amazing photos! Atention - no drones allowed.

A large mill pond built in the 1800's to provide power for the mill.

Bike friendly, walker friendly, everyone friendly actually. Great food, nice people plus glamping accommodation, very much recommend stopping here or incorporating this into your route for a break

Not much to see, but it great to walk along the ramparts and imagine what it would have looked like inside the area you're walking around.

Far too close for a good view of the chalk white horse but plenty of good views of the surrounding countryside!

Uffington ‘Castle’, which occupies the summit of Whitehorse Hill, is a rare and outstanding example of a large Iron Age hillfort. The famous White Horse is the oldest chalk-cut hill figure in Britain, perhaps over 3,000 years old. Nearby Dragon Hill, a natural mound about 10 metres high, is named for its association with the legend of St George.

There aren't many water stops on the Ridgeway section of the ride. This was a really valuable find.

Great views, ancient history and the while horse - a must stop point on the Ridgeway.

On White Horse Hill, this large hillfort dates back to the Iron Age and lies next to the extraordinary Uffington White Horse, a prehistoric chalk figure. Combined, they make for a wonderful site to ramble about. The fort lies on the ancient Ridgeway, Britain's oldest road and numerous other hillforts reside in the area.

Short distance from the Ridgeway and good views over the scarp slope.

Easy access to the Ridgeway.

Fun downhill if travelling east to west. Steady climb if travelling west to east.
