It offers refreshments and overnight accommodation and has been completely renovated in recent years. Its history is linked to legendary mountaineering figures, and the atmosphere is authentic. The view of the Crozzon di Brenta and the Tosa is unparalleled.

From this panoramic point you have a splendid view of the Brenta Dolomites and the Tuckett refuge. Its full name, in reality, would be the Francis Fox Tuckett-Quintino Sella refuge: the first was a British mountaineer, the second the founder of the Italian Alpine Club. Since 1981 the refuge has been managed by the Angeli family.

Great lake, certainly accessible to tourists, but not as bad as some other well-known gems in the Dolomites. It is also possible to cool off briefly in the lake. Currently, some of the paths are damaged by heavy mudslides.

Until the mid-1960s, a special type of algae appeared on the surface during the summer months, causing the lake to take on a bright red color. Mysterious stories and legends, such as that of Queen Tresenga, arose to explain this extraordinary phenomenon.

Lake Tovel is the largest of the natural lakes of Trentino and one of the naturalistic jewels of the Adamello Brenta Natural Park. It is located at the northernmost point of the Brenta Dolomites and is surrounded by the Campa massif. The blue color of the water, with a depth of 39 meters, is unmistakable and fades to emerald green as you approach the shore. The contrast becomes more evident as the water approaches the white beaches, a color due to dolomite dust. In the summer months until the early 1960s, the lake was the protagonist of an incredible phenomenon: its waters were colored red due to the presence of an alga (Tovéllia sanguinea), which is still present but in much lower concentration.
