"Very rideable" is always relative. With MTBs (with knobby tires) it's certainly a pleasant ride, but with narrower tires without much tread, it's not really recommended.

We spotted numerous marmots along the way. You should be careful on the descent, as the animals often roam the trails.

The official road and bus service lead to this point. There is a large public parking lot next to the hut. The Talschlusshütte offers a refreshment stop (please note opening hours) and is a good starting point for hikes to the numerous surrounding alpine pastures.

From May 16, 2025 (12 noon), the Staller Sattel will be open to all vehicles again. During the summer months, the pass is accessible 24 hours a day with traffic lights. The crossing from the Defreggental to the Antholzertal is possible every hour from 1 to 15 minutes. The crossing from the Antholzertal to the Defreggental is possible every hour from 30 to 45 minutes.

The Arvental Valley was formerly called the Monkey Valley, as the marmots were called "Affalan." Here, at the turnoff, you have a beautiful view of the farther part of the valley and the Arventalalm at 2,189 meters. Incidentally, snacks and drinks are available there in the summer.
